Authorization for Online Access to Specific Student Information

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of
your educational records. As a general rule, the University will not release your
records to a third party (including parents or guardians) without your consent.
You may use this application to grant permission for parents, guardians, sponsors or
others to access specific student information.

To grant access to a parent/guardian/sponsor/other, you must first obtain their Penn
State User ID. If the person does not have a Penn State User ID, please direct them to
the following website: https://www.bursar.psu.edu/fps/FPSCreate.cfm to create a Friends of
Penn State Account (FPS). Once the parent/guardian/sponsor/other obtains a FPS account
they need to provide you their user ID.

Step 1. Parent/Guardian/Sponsor/Other obtains a FPS account if they do not have a
current access account.
Step 2. Parent/Guardian/Sponsor/Other provides student their Penn State User ID.
Step 3. Student grants access to one or more of the following eLion applications:
