Major Themes | Help

The Major Themes application will help you create a list of Penn State baccalaureate majors (at all locations) that match your interests. You will be able to refine your list in four steps. In Step 1, you will identify your interests. In Step 2, you will select themes (groups of majors) related to your interests. In Step 3, you will select campus locations. In Step 4, you will view a list of majors that match your interests.

Step 1: Select Interests

From the fourteen groups below, select those that have one or more items that interest you the most, even if you're not sure how they might relate to specific majors or careers.

Plants/trees, animals, or the outdoors
Studio art, musical performance, dance, theatre, art appreciation, architecture, photography, film, or other creative activities
Accounting, management, investments, economics, entrepreneurship, sales and marketing, or information systems
Math, chemistry, physics, biology, astronomy, the weather, the earth, or lab research
Computer hardware and software, networking, wireless communication, or information technologies
Helping people solve their problems, listening well to others, learning how the mind works, understanding why people behave the way they do, counseling, or teaching
Writing, speaking, graphics, influencing others, media, advertising, or public relations
Technical problem solving, applied science, math and physics, or technical design of buildings, roads, electrical components, machines, and artificial organs
Physical and mental health, medicine, nutrition, or anatomy and physiology
History, literature, philosophy, people, cultures, or languages
Elementary, middle, or high school teaching
Environmental issues, protection of the environment, or the relationship between people and the environment
Recreation, fitness, or athletics
