Help for Advising Preparation

The Advising Preparation application helps you to prepare to meet with an academic adviser by taking appropriate steps or by thinking about particular issues. The application allows you to answer a series of questions and e-mail that information to yourself and to your adviser. If your adviser's information is unavailable, you may send the information to yourself and either print a copy for your adviser or forward the e-mail to your adviser. Preparing to meet with an adviser helps you to complete any preliminary steps before your meeting, allowing you to make better use of the time you spend with your adviser.

This application does not help you to schedule an appointment with your academic adviser. To make an appointment with your adviser, contact your college or department before or after using this application.

  1. From the drop-down menu, select your reason for seeing an adviser, and then select the "Continue" button. If your concern is not listed in the drop-down menu, select "Other." You will be asked to complete a series of questions by typing your answers in the boxes provided.

  2. After completing the questions, if you have another concern, select "Yes" from the drop-down menu, and then select the "Continue" button to return to the beginning again. If you have no other concerns, select "No" from the drop-down menu, and then select the "Continue" button to view the information you have provided.

  3. Select the appropriate button to e-mail this information to you or to both you and your adviser. If you are not given the option to e-mail your adviser, print the e-mail you receive and take it with you when you meet with your academic adviser, or forward the worksheet to your adviser via e-mail.
